Madrid Barajas (MAD) is the main airport, 12km from the city centre — one of the closest major European airports to its city. The Metro Line 8 connects T4 to Nuevos Ministerios in around 12 minutes. Cercanías trains from T1–T3 reach Atocha for under €3.
When is the cheapest time to fly to Madrid?
January, February, and November offer the lowest fares outside of local holidays. August can be cheap as many Madrileños leave the city — but note that some local restaurants and businesses close. Easter (Semana Santa) and the May fiestas push prices up sharply.
