Common questions
Flights from Venice — FAQs
Which airlines fly from Venice?
Venice Marco Polo (VCE) is Venice's main airport, with easyJet, Volotea, ITA Airways, Lufthansa and KLM covering most of Europe plus some long-haul. Ryanair and Wizz Air operate largely from Treviso (TSF), about 40km away. Check both airports when comparing - Treviso fares can undercut Marco Polo, but tend to come with longer transfers.
How do I get from Venice airport into Venice by water taxi?
Private water taxis leave from the dock a short covered walk from Marco Polo's terminal and take you straight to your hotel's nearest canal jetty in around 30 minutes. It's the fastest and most scenic route, but the priciest. The shared Alilaguna waterbus is the budget alternative at about €15 one-way, taking 60-90 minutes depending on the line and stop.
How do I get from Treviso airport to Venice?
The ATVO or Barzi express coach runs from Treviso airport to Venice's Piazzale Roma in about 40-70 minutes for around €12 one-way, timed to Ryanair flights. From Piazzale Roma you pick up the vaporetto or walk into the city. Allow extra time, as Treviso's cheaper fares come at the cost of a longer, less frequent transfer.
When is the cheapest time to fly from Venice?
Low season - November to March, excluding Christmas and the February Carnival - offers the best fares and thinner crowds, while summer and Carnival are the priciest, busiest windows. Mid-week departures and comparing Treviso against Marco Polo are the two easiest ways to cut back on the cost.
How much is a water taxi from Venice airport?
A private water taxi from Marco Polo into central Venice is roughly €120-140 for up to four or so passengers, making it good value split across a group but steep for solo travellers. The shared Alilaguna waterbus is about €15 per person instead. Prices rise for larger groups, extra luggage as well as late-night arrivals, so confirm before you board.
